Qualifications

Cambridge Study Skills Tutor (ASC)

Are you looking for a flexible, part-time role that fits around your schedule? Do you want to make a difference in a student's educational journey?

Randstad Student Support is recruiting Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Workers to assist autistic students studying at universities in Cambridge.

The role begins at the start of the new academic year (from 1st September 2024) and is a hybrid position. All successful candidates must be able to travel to the university and provide both in-person and online sessions flexibly to accommodate student preferences.

As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance, including creating tailored learning plans that promote independence.

You will support students to:

  1. Develop independence
  2. Build on strengths and learning strategies
  3. Implement organization and time management strategies
  4. Create action plans to stay on track with studies
  5. Enhance research skills by utilizing various sources
  6. Identify appropriate sources and proper referencing
  7. Improve reading and writing comprehension skills

It is essential to consider individual student needs case by case, act professionally, maintain confidentiality, and share relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best support.

Requirements:

This is a specialist role requiring specific qualifications and training. All students supported are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), and candidates must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE.

Candidates must have:

  • An undergraduate degree (minimum level 6)
  • A teaching qualification
  • Extensive training in adult autism, such as:
  • 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non-medical helper package)
  • OR
  • The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education

  • Ability to help students build on their strengths while maintaining confidentiality
