Job summary

GBS is recruiting a Study Skills Lecturer to join our Academic Department, delivering sessions across English language, numeracy, academic writing and referencing. The role requires teaching during weekdays, evenings and weekends, within a non-visa sponsorship framework.

You will design and deliver sessions, assess student work, provide feedback, and contribute to programme development across the Faculty and across GBS. The position is on-site in Leeds or Manchester.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
• Experience teaching in UK higher education in a relevant discipline.
• Experience of widening access environments.
• Experience supervising student work and providing feedback.
• Willingness to lead a literacy development area (reading, writing, numeracy, etc.).
• High digital literacy and strong communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accurate reporting, maintaining student records.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and deliver teaching sessions to develop academic skills.
• Design assessments and mark student work, ensuring learning outcomes are met.
• Provide meaningful feedback and academic guidance to students.
• Contribute to design, development and review of programmes within the Faculty and GBS.
• Participate in internal/external events like programme reviews and partner visits.
• Keep up to date with best practices in learning/teaching and relevant technologies.
• Support dissemination of new knowledge in your field.
