About the role

The Study Manager is the leader of the project/study and is the main contact on technical and commercial matters and actions related to the project/study. The Study Manager is responsible for managing the safe and efficient execution of assigned projects or studies and supports and leads proposals as required. This role involves ensuring compliance with project/study contractual obligations, safety, quality, and technical requirements within budget and schedule constraints, while overseeing team utilization. The role also requires proactive pursuit of prospects, proposals, and projects with a positive, "can do" mindset.

Role Responsibilities

  • Accountable for successful delivery of large multidiscipline Pre-FEED and FEED projects, managing change and ensuring purchase orders and variation orders cover all work for the client, achieving commercial performance targets.
  • Identify future opportunities with current clients; build and maintain strong client relationships and understand their drivers and challenges.
  • Support and deputize for the Delivery Manager in business development efforts to expand market presence and client base; stay aware of competitors’ capabilities and lead discussions in corporate forums.
  • Responsible for preparing and delivering proposals and developing strategies for long-term client engagement.
  • Work with operational teams (consultants, engineers, drafters/designers) to meet project gross profit targets.
  • Ensure project delivery in compliance with internal and client processes; maintain quality standards based on client feedback.
  • Oversee project profitability as per proposals.
  • Coordinate with local resource planners for mobilization and demobilization to maximize utilization.
  • Collaborate with resource coordinators and cost controllers for project forecasts and monthly reporting.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to teams of consultants and engineers, fostering engagement and results-oriented work.
  • Work closely with P&C teams and local resource planners to develop and retain talent.
  • Promote continuous improvement and digitalization in processes and tools.
  • Lead all aspects of project quality, health, safety, and sustainability.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar, with Chartered status.
  • Extensive experience in processing engineering projects within the energy industry, across concept, feasibility, or FEED stages.
  • Experience as Lead Engineer on studies.
  • Strong commercial skills and client-facing experience.
  • Ability to lead proposals and develop client relationships.
  • Proven team leadership and mentoring skills.
