Location: United Kingdom (Fully Remote)

Cerence is looking for a university student during their gap year to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting and contribute to organizational objectives while managing their own learning and seeking guidance when needed. Young students are welcome to join our talented engineering team and help shape the future of AI!

Expected Responsibilities:

1. Conduct experiments and develop small applications to translate theoretical concepts into practical applications in a professional environment.
2. Engage with colleagues, supervisors, and support teams to progress on projects, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
3. Take initiative, seek new challenges, and contribute to the team's success.
4. Own your development tasks, document them, and present to the team.
5. Establish clear communication channels with your supervisor and seek guidance to understand expectations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

Education: Enrolled in a UK university pursuing a Computer Science or related degree.

Minimum undergraduate years: 2 years

Required Skills:

• Completed basic Computer Science courses.
• Hands-on experience in computer programming, preferably Python. Demonstrated effort in course projects or assignments.
• Good software engineering skills, scripting knowledge (e.g., shell scripting, Perl), experience with Linux and Windows.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience developing medium-scale Python projects.
• Interest in AI, especially Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Background in NLP, speech technology, or computational linguistics.
