Job summary

Sheffield Secondary School seeks a dedicated Welfare Officer to support student wellbeing on a day-to-day basis. The role covers health, welfare and minor medical needs during the school day, requiring confidentiality and professional judgment.

The candidate should be organised, with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents. Prior school welfare or healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in school welfare, healthcare, or youth support is preferred.
• Strong organisation and record-keeping abilities.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Providing day-to-day welfare support to students.
• Responding appropriately to students who become unwell during the school day.
• Providing first aid within the scope of relevant training and school procedures.
• Maintaining up-to-date student welfare records.
• Contacting parents and carers where appropriate.
• Escalating safeguarding or welfare concerns through the correct channels.
• Following all school policies relating to welfare, first aid, medication and safeguarding.
• Supporting the Welfare and Student Support Team as required.
