Blackburn College is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to join our Student Experience team, providing timely, student-centred interventions and coordinating referrals with external agencies.

The role supports safeguarding across the college, promoting welfare while working with safeguarding leads and LSCB/LSAB procedures to help the college meet its statutory responsibilities. It fosters a safe, inclusive environment where students can thrive.

Qualifications

• Experienced safeguarding professional with track record in supporting children, young people and families.
• Ability to carry out safeguarding interventions and assessments in an educational setting.
• Skilled in coordinating referrals and engaging with external agencies.
• Strong communication and pastoral support capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely safeguarding interventions and referrals for students.
• Coordinate engagement with external agencies in line with safeguarding procedures.
• Promote safeguarding awareness and best practices across the college.
• Support early help and preventative interventions across departments.
