Job description

Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) – Permanent

Location: The University of Huddersfield - London Campus

Salary: up to £32,000 per annum

Role Overview

To be a member of the Centre’s Student Experience Team with responsibility for student wellbeing and welfare and supporting their progression needs.

To implement Study Group’s policies, standard operating processes and procedures, with the purpose of ensuring staff and students are fully supported to maximize student outcomes and satisfaction.

The post holder will report to the Student Experience Leader. The role requires working in a matrix structure and building strong relationships within the Student Experience Team, central Study Group teams, and the university partner to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provision of student welfare and safeguarding, including administration and record-keeping.
  2. Effective case management of student welfare concerns in line with policies.
  3. Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and monitor escalation processes.
  4. Monitor student whereabouts and coordinate procedures.
  5. Create Support Plans, including Safety and Exit Plans, following approval processes.
  6. Organize induction and wellbeing activities, and develop related materials.
  7. Escalate concerns to relevant teams as needed.
  8. Collaborate with teams to promote inclusive practices and support student welfare.
  9. Maintain the Welfare section on the Virtual Reception.
  10. Build relationships with the University Partner for effective engagement.
  11. Contribute to the development and communication of the Student Experience and Wellbeing Strategy.
  12. Support safeguarding awareness and contribute to reviews and reports.
  13. Provide engagement and progression support, including record-keeping.
  14. Act as a personal tutor, delivering tutorials and providing counseling.
  15. Design and create learning materials around study skills and employability.
  16. Maintain and embed digital learning technologies.
  17. Monitor academic engagement and attendance, and intervene as necessary.
  18. Track student performance and refer to support services when needed.
  19. Assist students in finding alternative progression options.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Experience or College Directors.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Higher level safeguarding training.
  • Experience supporting students in an educational setting.
  • Ability to develop and maintain the Student Experience.
  • Experience working in regulated environments.
