Job summary

Donnington Grove Veterinary Group in Newbury is seeking a Student Veterinary Nurse to join our busy equine hospital and three-branch practice. You’ll gain hands-on nursing experience under the guidance of Veterinary Surgeons and Registered Veterinary Nurses while you work towards your RVN qualification.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (Grade 4-9 / A-C) in Maths, English, and Science.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Ideally some experience working with animals.
• Structured training towards qualification as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care under the guidance of Veterinary Surgeons and Registered Veterinary Nurses.
• Gain hands-on experience across a range of nursing duties.
• Work across our three branches - Newbury, Tadley, and Thatcham - with rota-based twilight and weekend shifts.
• Be an integral part of the practice team and develop clinical and non-clinical skills.

Donnington Grove Veterinary Group are a busy Equine Hospital based in Newbury Berkshire. Our main Hospital has RCVS Tier 3 hospital status and is based in Newbury, which is a thriving town in West Berkshire, with many restaurants and only a 45-minute train journey to London Paddington. Situated on the edge of the North Wessex Downs AONB, it also provides beautiful local countryside for long walks with our canine friends. The Branches at Tadley and Thatcham are both located within a short distance of Newbury and are fully equipped for surgical procedures and digital diagnostic imaging.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Student Veterinary Nurse, you will be supported and encouraged to develop both your clinical and non-clinical skills while working towards qualification as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

You’ll be an integral part of the practice team, supporting patient care under the guidance of Veterinary Surgeons and Registered Veterinary Nurses. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across a range of nursing duties while progressing through your training programme and developing confidence in your day‑to‑day practice.

Working Pattern

This is a full-time position, including twilight and weekend shifts on a rota basis. You’ll work across our three branches - Newbury, Tadley, and Thatcham - gaining diverse experience and skills.
