Student Support Officer - Calderdale (Part-Time & Full-Time)

Are you passionate about supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress of secondary school students? Academics are looking to recruit Student Support Officers to work in secondary schools across Calderdale on both part-time and full-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in young people's lives, supporting their emotional, social, and academic development on a day-to-day basis.



About the Role:

As a Student Support Officer, you'll be a key point of contact for pupils needing additional support. You'll help maintain a positive and safe school environment, working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to promote student engagement and wellbeing.



Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting students with behaviour, attendance, and emotional needs
  • Monitoring and mentoring pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assisting with the implementation of behaviour management plans
  • Working alongside SENCOs, pastoral leads, and safeguarding teams
  • Promoting positive attitudes to learning and school life

Who We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a pastoral, behavioural or youth support role (school-based or otherwise)
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people
  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
