Salary: Business Support scale point 13-19: GBP23,557 to GBP24,307 gross per annum

The Role

Working within the Future Focus provision, delivered at the Launch Pad Centre, our new dedicated space in Blackburn Town Mall (formerly the Debenhams unit). Future Focus offers courses from Entry Level 3 to Level 3, with a strong emphasis on employability skills. Students will also continue to study GCSE Maths and English and take part in vocational tasters as part of a broad curriculum designed to help them re-engage and progress.

This central location has been designed to offer a calm, supportive, and inclusive environment, ideal for students who will benefit from a smaller, more personalised setting to help them succeed. As a key member of the Student Support and Engagement Team, you will provide a high-quality, proactive learning support service for students who have special educational needs and disabilities. You will support them in working towards their chosen programme of study and long-term employment aspirations, prioritising developing positive behaviours, good attendance habits, and strong attitudes to learning—essential foundations for success in education and beyond.

You will work with the curriculum team to ensure that all learners receiving support have the opportunities to achieve and exceed their potential, develop independence skills, and have equal opportunities to progress into further study, employment, and/or positive community engagement.

What are we looking for?

With experience of working in an education or care setting with young people with learning difficulties, disabilities, and complex and physical needs, you will have Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent or willingness to achieve within 1 year. You should also have qualifications in learning support, care, or education, or a willingness to work towards. You must have knowledge and understanding of barriers and issues faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities and strategies to overcome these.
