Job summary

Chesterfield College is seeking a temporary Vocational Support Assistant on a fixed term one year contract. You will support students with declared needs in workshops and theory classes, providing one-to-one assistance and helping them develop study skills such as note taking, planning and organisation.

The role requires working within the curriculum core to deliver high-quality support and adapt to individual education interventions to foster positive behaviour change.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting a diverse range of students in either secondary or further education is desirable.
• Holding a qualification in support teaching and learning is desirable but not essential as the opportunity to achieve this as part of your role will be offered.

Responsibilities

• Support students with declared needs in practical workshops and theory classes.
• Provide one-to-one support outside class time.
• Help students practice study skills such as note taking, planning and organisation.
• Work with students and relevant others to understand challenging behaviours and embed education interventions.
