Job summary

Leigh Academies Trust operates Leigh Academy Blackheath LAB16 sixth-form and is seeking a Student Services Manager (Post 16) to champion welfare, drive attendance and provide pastoral support for IB students and beyond.

You will lead 1:1 check-ins, coordinate safeguarding, monitor wellbeing, and manage Post-16 admissions, bursaries, inductions, and referrals within LAB16's fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Pastoral care and safeguarding experience in secondary or Post-16 setting.
• Clear communication, organization, and resilience under pressure.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above; safeguarding training.
• Degree, youth work, or Bromcom/Smoothwall experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Be a safeguarding team member, manage wellbeing referrals and external support.
• Monitor attendance, track progress, and help IB students access universities, apprenticeships or careers.

Are you passionate about guiding young adults toward a brighter future? Join Leigh Academy Blackheath as our Student Services Manager (Post 16). You will be the heart of our LAB16 sixth-form community, championing student welfare, driving attendance, and providing the pastoral support students need to excel in their International Baccalaureate (IB) studies and beyond.

What You’ll Do

• Lead 1:1 check-ins, build custom support plans, and foster a positive, focused environment in the LAB16 Hub.
• Act as a key member of the safeguarding team, managing student wellbeing and external support referrals.
• Monitor attendance, track progress, and help IB students cross the finish line into top universities, apprenticeships, or careers.
• Manage Post-16 admissions, bursary funds, and student inductions.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven track record in pastoral care, student support, or safeguarding within a secondary or Post-16 setting.
• Clear communicator, highly organized, calm under pressure, and dedicated to student success.
• GCSEs in English & Maths (Grade 4/C or above) and advanced safeguarding training. (Degree, youth work, or Bromcom/Smoothwall experience is a bonus!)
