Job summary

Aspire People Limited is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to join a supportive secondary school in South West London. You will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and pastoral team to ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and student welfare is protected.

The role involves recording safeguarding concerns, coordinating with external agencies, and contributing to training and best practice to maintain a safe school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in safeguarding, child protection, pastoral care or similar.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures within an education setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Confidential handling of sensitive information.
• Proactive, calm and professional approach.
• Ability to work as part of a safeguarding team.
• DBS update service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support the DSL with day-to-day safeguarding and child protection concerns.
• Respond to disclosures and safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.
• Support referrals to external agencies as required.
• Collaborate with students, families, staff and external professionals.
• Monitor student welfare and identify those needing additional support.
• Contribute to safeguarding meetings, reviews and multi-agency work.
• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed consistently.
• Assist with safeguarding training and awareness.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
