Job summary

Nether Stowe School is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive team. You will supervise classes when the usual teacher is absent, help students stay engaged with set work and maintain a calm, positive learning environment.

Working with teachers and pastoral staff, you will support student achievement and wellbeing, contribute to a smooth learning day, and have access to high-quality CPD and progression opportunities. We value reliability, adaptability and a proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
• High expectations of student behaviour, engagement and achievement.
• Ability to establish positive and professional relationships with students.
• Confident managing groups of students and maintaining a calm learning environment.
• Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to follow lesson plans and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Supervising classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher, ensuring students complete the work provided.
• Creating and maintaining a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
• Providing clear instructions and support to students to enable them to complete their learning independently.
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
• Monitoring student engagement and progress and providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and colleagues across the school to support student achievement and wellbeing.
