About

Are you currently enrolled in an active university course studying Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline?

At Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS), we are looking to recruit 3 students for 1-year Scientist placements starting mid-August 2025.

SGIS offers a wide range of high-performance solutions for various applications across residential, commercial, and RMI sectors in the UK. Our Scientists play a crucial role in product development and optimisation to deliver solutions to our customers.

The roles are based at our site in East Leake, working Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.

What will I be doing?
  1. Conducting hands-on laboratory work on projects, applying skills and knowledge gained during studies.
  2. Developing and testing gypsum-based construction products.
  3. Shadowing experienced colleagues and receiving guidance through tasks.
  4. Supporting the department on key tasks and projects, working both independently and within teams, with ongoing support and mentorship from specialists.

What will I need to be considered?
  • Relevant degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline (minimum of 2 years of studies completed).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • A desire to learn, develop, and grow.
  • Confidence and vision to evaluate and challenge existing ways of working.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and understand data.
