About Us

UCL is at an interesting point in its history. We have expanded rapidly, and the new strategic planning process is focussed on building on achievements and opportunities from growth while also addressing some of the challenges.

The UCL Strategic Plan 2022-2027 outlines a vision for a ‘futures focussed’ UCL education that is ambitious and distinctive. It prompts us to view UCL education and student experience through the lens of current and future students to ensure we are able to meet their needs and expectations. It also recognises that ‘the future’ is not a given. Instead, different futures are there to be influenced and shaped by UCL students, staff and graduates through our teaching and research.

One of the aims of the Strategic Plan is to bring together teaching, assessment and employability in order to support student futures and to that end, the new ‘UCL Higher Education Development & Support Institute’ (HEDS) has been established. HEDS brings together UCL Arena (UCL’s Centre for Research-based Education) and UCL Careers Service.

About The Role

In this job, you'll work within the HEDS Development & Planning team to ensure that HEDS provides the support that UCL requires for partnership working between students and staff, and further work based learning opportunities. As our Student Opportunities and Partnerships Officer, you will report into the Head of Student Partnerships, with a 'dotted line' reporting into the Internships Programme Manager.

You'll work closely with the Student Partnerships Manager to support the promotion, delivery and evaluation of UCL’s two flagship student partnership initiatives: ChangeMakers and Student Fellows. You will also work with the Internships Programme Manager and the team to build out and operationalise work-based learning opportunities available to students. This will include essential support work such as arranging and supporting meetings, setting up training sessions, advertising opportunities for internships, diary management, writing website and report content as well as contributing to internal and external conference papers and presentations.

A full list of responsibilities can be found on the attached job description.

About You

To do this job you'll need to have:

  • Experience of supporting project management, delivering against targets and evaluating impact
  • Experience of gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data to monitor activity and ensure continuous quality improvement
  • Experience of responding effectively to needs of colleagues and other stakeholders with efficient solutions

If you have experience of supporting the development and management of events (e.g. training, workshops, showcases), experience of shortlisting internship roles or similar, experience of minute taking, and hold or are working towards HEA fellowship (AFHEA) then that's great. But if you don't have these things and tick our other boxes, we'd still love to hear from you!

Please review the job description carefully, paying particular attention to the Essential and Desirable criteria, and ensure these are covered in your application.
