Job summary

University of Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced Counsellor to join the Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. You will manage a caseload of clients and provide one-to-one counselling to students, developing supportive therapeutic relationships.

You will work closely with academic and professional staff across the University and liaise with external agencies. The post offers either 1.0 FTE or two 0.5 FTE positions, with commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and professionalism.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and complex caseload.
• The ability to identify risk and make appropriate clinical decisions on therapeutic support or suitable referral.
• The ability to work independently, making informed decisions while seeking support from colleagues when required.
• A collaborative, flexible approach and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities
