What will you be doing?

As a Student-Led ChangeAssistant, you will assist in ensuring students feel confident using their voice to make improvements in their education. This role supports the wider Student-Led Change function by helping with administrative and delivery tasks. You will work within your School to ensure Student-led Change is possible at every level from supporting Course Reps at a programme level, to School Reps at a Subject level, and elected Student Officers delivering campaigns on a School and University-wide basis.

You will:

  • Assist in the day-to-day administration and delivery of student voice initiatives.
  • Help prepare materials for student representation, training, and development.
  • Support the coordination of events and meetings for student representatives.
  • Contribute to Student-Led Change:
    • Assist with the collection of data and feedback to help inform and evaluate student voice activities.
    • Provide administrative support for projects related to academic representation.
    • Help in the preparation of briefings on issues related to the academic experience.
    • Input your ideas on how to innovate and improve student-led change through gathering feedback and championing your school.
  • Provide Administrative and General Support:
    • Contribute to the communication efforts to promote student-led change across the Students' Union.
    • Help to maintain the Student-Led Change database and other relevant systems.
    • Provide general support to the Student-Led Change Lead and other team members as required.

All our student staff will receive training to enable them to fulfil the role. Students applying must be currently enrolled on a course at the University of Salford or have accepted an offer to study at the University of Salford from September 2026. This is a paid role. Student Staff are required to commit to a minimum of 5hours per week.

Qualifications

You do not need any previous experience to apply for this role, however this is a specialist skills role. We are looking for people who:

  • are current University of Salford Students (Undergraduate or Postgraduate)
  • have good communication and listening skills.
  • have great organisation and time management skills.
  • ability to work as part of a team and take direction.
  • ability to use Microsoft Office software or willingness to learn.
  • are interested in student-led change and academic representation, and want to learn
  • A commitment to the values, mission, and purpose of Salford SU.
  • An interest in promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting student voice and representation.
