Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity within Student Services for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Student Advisor. This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term opportunity which may be reviewed at a later stage. Student Services are looking for an individual with a “can-do” attitude who is an excellent team player, able to deliver excellent customer service during demanding and busy periods.

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and pastoral information, advice and guidance to current and prospective students, as part of a team within Student Services.
  • Process and assess applications from students seeking financial support, advise and assist students applying for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA).
  • Utilise the student records system for the production of letters, references and council tax exemption forms.
  • undertake a range of administrative and clerical duties to support the wider Student Services department.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a confidential, helpful and cooperative manner when working under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexibly as part of the Student Services team and support other teams such as Reception and the Life Lounge.
  • Ability to work from other locations such as the Queens Specialist Building, Greater Manchester Business School or Institute of Medical Sciences when required.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and creative ways of working; ability to support delivery of new projects and advancement of service provision.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body and demonstrate sensitivity to individual differences.
  • Flexible approach to working patterns/hours; able to manage competing deadlines and use own initiative.
