Job summary

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is recruiting a Chartered Engineer to lead the Structures Team within the Infrastructure Asset Management Section in Pontypridd. The role demands strategic oversight of bridges, retaining walls and larger culverts with technical guidance across stakeholders.

The post is based at the new Pontypridd HQ with a hybrid work pattern and a 37-hour week under flexible hours. Generous leave and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme are offered.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Chartered Engineer to lead and manage the Structures Team in the Infrastructure Asset Management Section in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The Council has a dedicated team of Engineers to manage and maintain the highway and parks services structures asset including bridges, retaining walls and larger culverts and provides technical advice to a range of stakeholders. We are looking for a candidate with experience and knowledge to lead and manage this team. It is an opportunity to work within the third largest local authority in Wales.

You will have a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and hold Chartered Engineer status with the ICE or IStructE or equivalent and have experience as outlined in the detailed job description.

The permanent full-time position is based at the Council’s newly constructed, modern headquarters in the centre of Pontypridd, benefiting from the services and facilities of the town centre, nearby public parking, and excellent public transport links to Cardiff and the surrounding Valleys area.

A hybrid working arrangement is in place with staff able to work from both home and the office, which is to continue in the long term. Employment hours are 37 hours a week, under the flexible working hours scheme, and our generous annual leave allowance will provide you with 26 days holiday each year increasing to 31 upon 5 years of completed service (in addition to 8 public holidays).
