Job summary

British Engineering Services Group, via its XEIAD division, is seeking a Structures Engineer to carry out on-site examinations of civil engineering structures across the UK, assessing condition, identifying risks and producing clear inspection reports. You will lead inspections, coordinate resources, comply with standards, travel as required, and contribute to safe, compliant asset management.

A degree in engineering and BICS competency are required, with a driving licence and willingness to

• Highways structures inspection BICS competency, or be prepared to work towards.
• Previous experience in a structures inspection role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to organise and prioritise workloads effectively.
• Willing to travel and work on site across the UK.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe delivery of structural inspections across a range of infrastructure assets.
• Coordinate site activities, resources, plant, equipment and subcontractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Complete inspections in line with relevant technical standards, specifications and customer requirements.
• Identify and manage site risks through planning, dynamic risk assessment and safe systems of work.
• Produce accurate, high-quality technical reports and inspection records.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.

XEIAD is a specialist engineering inspection consultancy delivering high-quality inspections and assessments on critical infrastructure assets. Using specialist access techniques such as rope access, diving and confined space working, their expert engineers inspect structures including bridges, tunnels and culverts, providing reliable insight to help asset owners manage risk and maintain safety.

What will you be doing?

As a Structures Engineer for XEIAD, part of British Engineering Services Group, you will carry out site examinations of civil engineering structures, assessing condition, identifying risks and producing clear, high-quality reports. You will work across a range of infrastructure assets, supporting safe, compliant and efficient asset management.

You will also:

• Lead the safe delivery of structural inspections, investigations and surveys across a range of infrastructure assets.
• Coordinate site activities, resources, plant, equipment and subcontractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Complete inspections in line with relevant technical standards, specifications and customer requirements.
• Identify and manage site risks through effective planning, dynamic risk assessment and safe systems of work.
• Produce accurate, high-quality technical reports and inspection records.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
