An award-winning engineering consultancy is seeking a Structural Surveyor to support clients in maximizing assets and minimizing risks. The position involves conducting inspections and surveys of various structures, report writing, and promoting safety standards. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in Civil and Structural Surveying, possess strong interpersonal skills, and hold relevant professional certifications. Job description

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting an award winning engineering consultancy with the appointment of a Structural Surveyor, to support their clients in the maximisation of their assets and risk minimisation. The ideal candidate will support their full existing client base across the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Food, Bulk Storage & Distribution, Renewables and Energy industry, and will be expected to travel occasionally to client sites (predominantly based within the Teesside region). The role focuses on supporting clients for all requirements related to surveying civil and structural works, and will be the primary contact for routine inspections of a varity of in-service equipment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Carry out inspections and surveys in line with relevant regulations for the following:
  • Steel Structures
  • Pipe Birdges
  • Storage tank bunds
  • Culverts
  • Walkways, access ladders and platforms
  • Jetties and dolphins
  • Steel portal buildings e.g warehouses, boiler houses, or plant containing buildings
  • Clear and concise report writing outlining survey findings, recommendations, and necessary actions; identifying potential challenges and discrepancies and communicate these effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • Prioritise and encourage safe working standards, always adhering to relevant safety guidelines.
  • Remain updated on surveying technology through continuous learning and training opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Civil and Structural Surveying/Engineering, working on complex projects.
  • Experience working with a variety of equipment, including GPS, total stations and laser scanners would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with limited training, acting at the forefront of the business with clients
  • Experience writing error free reports from scratch or using templates.
  • Professional Surveying certifications (advantageous)
  • A valid, UK driving licence
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to influence, ideally in client facing roles
  • Ability to meet deadlines to correct standards.
