Job summary

Bec Recruitment.co.uk is recruiting a Structural Steel Welder in Irlam, Greater Manchester, for a permanent, long-term role with early starts (6am-2pm) Monday to Friday. The job involves welding heavy structural steel using MIG with FC wire on varied plate thicknesses on iconic projects across the UK.

You must be a time-served MIG welder with NVQ Level 3 or apprentice-trained, with experience in heavy plate welding. Overtime is available, including time-and-a-half on extra hours and Sundays.

Qualifications

• Time-served MIG welder with NVQ Level 3.
• Proficient in MIG welding with FC wire and positional welding.
• Experience with heavy plate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld complex structural steel components.
• Use hand tools and grinding for finish.
• Maintain health and safety and PPE.

Job Title: Structural Steel Welder (Full-Time)
Location: Irlam, Greater Manchester
Hours: 5 days | Monday to Friday, 6AM - 2PM
Salary: £19.32 per hour
Contract: Permanent, Long-Term

Essential Requirements

• Qualifications: Time-served MIG welder(Apprentice trained / NVQ Level 3).
• Technical Skills: Highly competent and confident with the MIG process and using FC wirefor positional welding.
• Experience: Heavy plate experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with complex structural steel fabrications.
• Confidently use hand tools associated with welding both manual and grinding.
• Arc Air gouging preferred but not essential.
• Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Strictly adhere to all Health & Safety practices and ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.

Overtime & Benefits

• Time-and-a-half (1.5x): Paid for extra weekday hours and Saturdays.
• Double-time (2x): Paid for Sundays.
• Excellent earning potential with plenty of overtime available.
