Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd in Leeds is seeking an experienced Structural Detailer with Tekla expertise to join a site-based permanent role. You will turn architectural and structural information into precise 3D Tekla models and fabrication drawings for specialist steelwork projects.

You’ll work across stairs, balustrades and architectural metalwork, liaising with clients and internal teams to resolve queries, manage revisions and ensure drawings reflect project requirements from start to finish.

Qualifications

• Experience as Structural/Steel Detailer or CAD Technician.
• Strong Tekla Structures experience.
• Ability to produce 3D models and fabrication drawings.
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings clearly.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Location: Leeds

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Employment: Full-time, permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Arrangement: Site-based - no hybrid working

Are you an experienced Structural Detailer with Tekla experience looking for a permanent opportunity where you can work on a variety of specialist steelwork projects?

This is an opportunity to join an established specialist steelwork business working across the design, fabrication and installation of steel staircases, balustrades, architectural metalwork and associated structural steelwork.

The Role

As a Structural Detailer, you'll be responsible for taking architectural and structural information and turning it into accurate 3D Tekla models and detailed fabrication/construction drawings.

You'll work on a varied range of projects, from individual installations through to larger multi-site and multi-flight projects, ensuring the information you produce is practical, accurate and suitable for fabrication and installation.

You'll also have the opportunity to work directly with clients and other project stakeholders, resolving technical queries and helping develop effective detailing solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

• Produce accurate 3D models using Tekla Structures.
• Create detailed fabrication and construction drawings.
• Detail steel staircases, balustrades, architectural metalwork and structural steelwork.
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
• Develop practical detailing solutions that work through fabrication and installation.
• Liaise with clients to clarify technical and detailing requirements.
• Resolve technical queries throughout the project.
• Ensure drawings and models accurately reflect project requirements.
• Manage drawing revisions and maintain accurate project records.
• Ensure all technical information is kept up to date and issued correctly.
• Work closely with the wider project and fabrication teams to ensure designs can be manufactured and installed effectively.

About You

We're looking for someone with a strong eye for detail and good Tekla experience, who understands how detailed drawings translate into real-world fabrication and installation.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Structural Detailer / Steel Detailer / CAD Technician or similar.
• Good working knowledge of Tekla Structures.
• Experience producing 3D models and detailed construction/fabrication drawings.
• The ability to confidently interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Good understanding of specifications and customer requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisational skills and an ability to manage drawing revisions and project information.
• Confident communication skills when dealing with clients and technical queries.

Experience That Would Be a Bonus

Experience within architectural metalwork or specialist steelwork would be particularly useful.

This could include experience with:

• Steel staircases
• Balustrades
• Architectural metalwork

• Fabrication drawings
• Tekla Structures
