Job Description:

We are currently working with one of the UK's best known multidisciplinary consultancies as they look to add a Structural Investigation Engineer to their division in Milton Keynes.

Company Profile:

This consultancy's Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors, including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. They focus on balancing form and function, considering sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability.

Digitalisation is central to their delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from the concept stage through detailed drawings, leveraging expertise across industries and disciplines to harmonise design drivers through engineering, architecture, and development services.

What you'll be doing:

This role offers career progression for a Structural Engineer within a reputable team known for expertise across the built environment. You will be involved in delivering residential foundation and superstructure projects, including low and medium-rise housing and commercial developments. You will also help develop the structural investigation service, serving clients in London, Milton Keynes, and the Midlands.

Duties:

  • Conduct structural investigations and produce reports on various building structures
  • Assist senior management in developing investigation services
  • Manage projects and teams independently
  • Handle financial aspects of projects, including fee quotations and invoicing
  • Manage staff and collaborate with other consultants
  • Conduct site visits and structural surveys for repairs and investigations

Candidate Profile:

Applicants should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, preferably chartered with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent, or working towards chartership.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Experience in structural investigations and reporting for residential and commercial buildings
  • Knowledge of building defect identification and repair
  • Experience related to building safety and 'Building Safety Act'
  • Design experience in foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures according to Eurocodes
  • Familiarity with Tekla, AutoCAD, and Revit software
  • Management experience is advantageous
  • Decision-making ability, motivation, initiative, and autonomy
