Job description

Job Title: Structural Inspector

We are currently accepting applications for a Structural Inspector to join our Quality team as a direct report to our Quality Manager.

As a Structural Inspector, the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating structural components, manufactured both on and off-site, using NDT techniques to identify defects and collect data for analysis. Investigation of product problems will be required, involving interpreting results and making decisions on acceptance or rejection. They will also inspect and evaluate components returned for warranty claims, actively seeking opinions and conclusions from engineers.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Support ISO certification / Quality management systems
  2. Inspect and approve components and materials, including first-off samples within the ISO9001 quality system
  3. Investigate production problems, interpret results, and decide on acceptance/rejection
  4. Utilize SAP process for non-conformance transactions and Material Master data management
  5. Inspect and evaluate warranty return components, collaborating with engineers for opinions and conclusions
  6. Perform dimensional checks of components/structures using CMM, portage table, or other measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, calipers, etc.)
  7. Liaise with Quality Engineers, Design, and Manufacturing teams
  8. Contribute to NPI Advanced Product Quality Planning
  9. Support new product/part introduction
  10. Assist in cost reduction, resourcing, and outsourcing initiatives
  11. Enhance internal quality performance and process development
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified/time-served welder (City & Guilds, HNC, Apprenticeship, or equivalent in a relevant discipline)
  • At least 3 years of experience in fabrication within automotive, marine, oil & gas, or construction equipment manufacturing
  • Experience with coordinate measuring machinery (CMM) and related software
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office and SAP

PCN Level 2 for NPI & UT is required; training will be provided.
