An established large main contractor is looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join its team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer looking to work within a major contracting environment, supporting the successful delivery of technically challenging construction projects across the West Midlands and wider region. The contractor operates across a diverse portfolio of projects, including multi-storey car parks, residential developments and industrial schemes, offering excellent variety and exposure to different forms of construction. The successful candidate will work closely with project, design and construction teams, providing structural engineering expertise from design development through to delivery on site.
The ideal candidate will have: A degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Previous experience working as a Structural Engineer within the construction or engineering sector. Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and construction methods. Experience working on commercial, residential, industrial or multi-storey developments would be advantageous. An understanding of precast concrete, structural steelwork and other common structural systems. The ability to interpret and challenge structural drawings and calculations. Strong communication and coordination skills. A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering and construction. The ability to work effectively with both design consultants and site-based construction teams. Chartered or working towards chartered status would be advantageous but is not essential.
