Job summary

Vertical Recruitment Limited is looking for a Structural Engineer to work across buildings and live events in Birmingham. You’ll produce calculations and structural designs for permanent buildings and temporary event structures, ensuring safety and compliance with UK standards.

Join a hybrid role with travel across the north of the UK, and paid overtime. You’ll collaborate with architects and clients from concept through delivery and see designs on site, with support for ICE/IStructE chartership

Qualifications

• Around three years or more of structural design experience.
• Civil or Structural Engineering degree.
• Good working knowledge of UK design standards, Eurocodes and Building Regulations.
• Experience across different materials and structural analysis software; SCIA experience welcome.
• Full UK driving licence and travel to event sites with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Producing calculations and structural designs for buildings and temporary event structures.
• Working with architects, clients and other engineers to develop and coordinate designs.
• Visiting existing buildings and construction sites to carry out surveys and inspections.
• Inspecting temporary structures at event venues and signing them off on site.
• Preparing technical reports and taking a more visible role in project and design team meetings.
