As a result of our growth, we are looking for full-time Senior Structural Engineers to work on Nuclear New Build projects, focusing on Nuclear Island buildings of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and similar projects. You will develop your technical skills working on complex nuclear power plant structures and build strong relationships in a multicultural environment.

Job description

As a Structural Engineer, you will ensure the safety, integrity, and reliability of nuclear power plant structures, responsible for design and structural analysis of reinforced concrete or steel structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and analyze reinforced concrete structures for Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants.
  2. Perform structural calculations and Finite Element modelling using ANSYS APDL or similar software, ensuring compliance with Eurocode, ETC-C, and related standards.
  3. Ensure structural integrity under various loads, including seismic, dynamic, impact, and environmental factors.
  4. Collaborate with detailing, drafting, BIM, and technical teams to coordinate design requirements.
  5. Assess design changes and propose modifications.
  6. Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
  7. Conduct structural assessments during construction and provide technical support.
  8. Work with contractors and site teams to resolve structural issues.
  9. Guide junior engineers and draftsmen.
  10. Coordinate with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations.
  11. Follow CDM regulations in design processes.
  12. Maintain strong communication, independence, presentation, and influencing skills.
  13. Stay updated with industry advancements and best practices in nuclear structural engineering.

Note: This role may require undergoing Basic Security Clearance (BPSS).

Profile

Applicants should have experience in the nuclear or high-risk industries, with a background in Civil Structural Engineering, holding a Master’s degree or equivalent.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Experience in Structural Civil Work, Civil Design, RC detailing, steel structures with ETT-C or Eurocodes.
  • Proven experience in designing and analyzing reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants, especially with EPR reactors.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ANSYS, SAP, Robot, etc.
  • Experience with seismic analysis and design principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Experience in high-risk industry construction and design support on-site is preferred.
  • Knowledge of BIM tools like TEKLA or Navisworks is a plus.
