Job summary

Arup in Southampton is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE). You will work within our Building Engineering team on exciting projects across science, healthcare, education, sport, data centres and commercial developments.

In a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, you’ll contribute from concept through to completion, developing sustainable structural solutions while benefiting from excellent training, mentoring and career development

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in structural/civil engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience with structural Eurocode design for concrete/steel buildings.
• Experience in refurbishment/repurposing of existing buildings is a plus.
• Ability to communicate through sketching, drawings, presentations and reports.
• Commitment to sustainable development and embodied carbon considerations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural designs from concept through to completion.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and industry professionals.
• Contribute to projects across sectors including science, healthcare, education, sport, data centres and commercial developments.
• Support training and mentoring within the Building Engineering team.

We're looking for a motivated Structural Engineer working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE) who is keen to develop their technical expertise, collaborate with industry-leading professionals, and contribute to projects from concept through to completion. Is this role right for you?

We are looking to speak to people who:

• Have a BEng or MEng degree (MEng preferred) or equivalent, in a relevant structural/civil engineering discipline.
• Have experience in structural Eurocode design including concrete and/or steel framed buildings. Some experience of timber and masonry design would be useful, but not essential.
• Have experience and/or a desire to learn about structural refurbishment / repurposing of existing buildings.
• Demonstrate an ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations and report writing.
• Are committed to sustainable development. Knowledge of embodied carbon assessments would be useful.
