Structural Engineer at Alexander Associates

Location: Central London

We’re working with an established consultancy in Central London that’s looking to hire an Intermediate Structural Engineer. They have a strong reputation and a steady flow of interesting projects, including high-end homes, commercial buildings, and heritage refurbishments. The team is supportive, down-to-earth, and genuinely cares about quality design.

About the role:

You will join a close-knit, experienced design team, working on various building structures. Responsibilities include contributing across all project stages, from early concept and detailed analysis to client meetings and potentially managing smaller schemes.

This is a great opportunity to expand your skills, work closely with Chartered Engineers, and progress towards a more senior role.

Key responsibilities:

• Producing structural designs using concrete, steel, timber, and masonry
• Supporting senior engineers on larger projects and leading smaller ones
• Attending design meetings and liaising with architects and other consultants
• Assisting with site inspections and report writing as needed
• Promoting a positive, solutions-focused team culture

Required skills and experience:

• 3–5 years’ experience in UK consultancy
• Solid knowledge of main structural materials (steel and concrete essential)
• Proficiency with software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, and AutoCAD
• Desire to learn, progress, and take on more responsibility
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
