Bimplus is seeking a Structural Engineer to join a design-led practice in London, tackling a diverse range of building projects across the UK. You will develop from concept design through to construction, delivering calculations and design packages, and coordinating with architects, contractors and clients.
The role emphasizes collaboration with senior engineers, a clear path toward MIStructE or MICE Chartership, and extensive exposure to Eurocodes and British Standards.
Our client is an established design-led structural engineering consultancy working on a diverse range of building projects throughout London and the wider UK. Their portfolio includes high-end residential developments, commercial buildings, mixed-use schemes, education and community facilities, refurbishments, extensions, listed buildings and bespoke architectural structures. Engineers are given broad project exposure, close support from senior colleagues and the opportunity to develop from concept design through to construction.
Produce structural calculations, design packages and supporting technical documentation.
Design structural elements in steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry.
Assist with the delivery of building structures projects from concept through to construction.
Prepare calculation packs, sketches, reports and information for drawings and BIM models.
Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients and other design disciplines.
Attend design meetings, structural surveys and site inspections.
Respond to technical queries and support the resolution of design and construction issues.
Work closely with senior engineers while developing project ownership and client-facing capability.
Qualifications
Approximately 2-4 years' UK structural engineering consultancy experience.
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Practical experience designing building structures within a UK consultancy environment.
Confident producing structural calculations and clear technical documentation.
Experience with steel and reinforced concrete design; exposure to timber and masonry is highly desirable.
Good understanding of Eurocodes and relevant British Standards.
Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
A clear ambition to progress professionally and work towards MIStructE or MICE Chartership.
Experience with software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, MasterSeries, AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS or Robot would be advantageous.
Competitive salary package, dependent on experience.
Hybrid working with three days in the office and two days from home.
