Job summary

Pick Everard in Glasgow is seeking a Structural Engineer to deliver high-quality design and analysis across a range of sectors. You will conduct surveys, develop remedial options, and support project delivery while collaborating with internal teams and clients.

The role emphasises sustainable design, professional development, and adherence to UK standards within a supportive national team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in civil or structural engineering with UK experience.
  • Incorporated Engineer or near chartered status preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of UK design standards and construction methods.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure high-quality technical delivery of projects, including design and drawings.
  • Undertake building surveys and provide remedial recommendations.
  • Manage small project budgets and resources for commercial success.
  • Act as point of contact for client and contractor queries.
  • Minimise health and safety risks and promote competency.
  • Collaborate with project teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Integrate sustainable design and pursue CPD/training.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.

Your core responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure high-quality technical delivery of projects and tasks, including design, calculations, and drawing support.
  • Undertake building surveys and provide appraisals with recommendations for remedial solutions.
  • Manage small project fees and resources to ensure commercial success.
  • Act as point of contact for client and contractor queries.
  • Minimise health and safety risks and promote Pick Everard staff competencies.
  • Collaborate with project teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Integrate sustainable engineering practices into projects and commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Compliance withHealth & Safety requirements, practices and procedures.

About You
  • Our ideal Structural Engineer must have:
  • Minimum BSc/BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering; MSc/MEng preferred.
  • Incorporated Engineer or Near Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE), or approaching membership, with relevant UK experience.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, risk management, and knowledge of UK design standards, codes, and construction methods.
  • Experienced with structural analysis, design, 3D modelling, and software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across written, visual, and in-person interactions.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Site visit experience and a collaborative approach, engaging with internal and external teams.
  • Committed to sustainable design solutions and ongoing professional development through CPD and training
