12-Month Contract
On-site in Hertfordshire
£50 per hour (Inside IR35, Umbrella)

Our client are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join them on a long-term contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis using both hand calculations and Finite Element (FE) methods to support product design and development.
  • Lead technical assessments across a range of analysis domains including static, dynamic, fatigue, and crash analysis.
  • Deliver technical reports and documentation to a high standard for internal teams and external clients.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams including design, manufacturing, and systems engineers.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency by implementing structural optimisation techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and FE model refinement.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Degree qualified in a STEM discipline with significant post-graduate experience in structural engineering.
  • Strong background in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Altair or equivalent tools such as NASTRAN or ANSYS.
  • Demonstrable experience in structural domains such as fatigue analysis, multi-body dynamics, or metallic/composite material assessment.
  • Ability to provide efficient, simplified analysis to support fast-paced design decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and clearly present complex technical findings.
