The role is field-based with hybrid working options and a salary starting at £50,000+ DOE. You will inspect residential, commercial, and historic buildings, diagnose defects, and produce live on-site reports using tablet-based technology, delivering clear remedial

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years' experience in structural inspections/defect diagnosis.
• Strong knowledge of building pathology and structural damage mechanisms.
• Experience with insurance-related surveys is highly advantageous.
• Proficient with digital reporting tools and tablets.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake structural inspections across residential, commercial, and heritage buildings
• Diagnose defects including subsidence, movement, fire and storm damage
• Produce live digital reports on-site, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
• Provide remedial specifications and technical recommendations
• Manage and contribute to insurance claim reporting processes
• Liaise with insurers, clients, and contractors to ensure service excellence
• Maintain high standards of technical delivery aligned with KPIs and SLAs
• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within a digital-first environment

Structural Engineer - Requirements

• Experience working on insurance-related surveys (highly advantageous)
• Understanding of both traditional and non-traditional construction methods
• Excellent IT skills, comfortable using digital reporting tools / tablets
• Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across stakeholders
• Ability to work independently across a regional patch
• Full UK driving licence
• Working towards or holding professional membership (MIStructE, MICE, MRICS or similar)
• Experience with historic buildings
