Job summary

AVENTA is seeking a Structural Design Engineer for our offshore structures team in Greater London. You will produce fabrication drawings for jackets and platforms, develop 3D structural models, and ensure designs are constructible and aligned with fabrication and installation requirements.

With 5–6 years of offshore oil & gas experience, you will guide junior designers, coordinate across multidisciplinary teams, and maintain CAD standards.

Qualifications

• 5-6 years experience in Offshore Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven hands-on jacket/platform structural design experience.
• Solid background in drafting and 3D modelling for offshore structures.
• Strong knowledge of offshore steel structures (jackets, topsides).
• Proficient in SolidWorks/AutoCAD; E3D is a plus.
• Familiar with engineering drawing standards and document control.

Job description

Our client, a specialist offshore engineering firm, is growing its offshore structures team and looking for a Structural Design Engineer to produce fabrication drawings for large jacket structures and platforms. This is a permanent position based in Greater London (UK).

Main Responsibilities

• Produce detailed fabrication, assembly, general arrangement and installation drawings for large jacket structures and platforms
• Develop and maintain the 3D structural models supporting these deliverables
• Coordinate closely with structural engineers and fabrication specialists to ensure designs are constructible and aligned with fabrication and installation requirements
• Take part in design and model reviews with internal and external stakeholders
• Prepare material take-offs, bills of materials and drawing registers
• Provide technical guidance to junior designers on CAD standards and modelling best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 5-6 years experience in Offshore Oil&Gas Industry
• Proven hands-on experience in jacket and/or platform structural design (this is the core requirement for the role)
• Solid background in structural drafting and 3D modelling within offshore energy
• Strong understanding of offshore steel structures (jackets, topsides, subsea structures)
• SolidWorks /AutoCAD proficiency required; E3d is a strong plus
• Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and document control processes
• Comfortable coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, with strong attention to detail
