Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit is essential.
  • Level 5 qualification or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering required.

Structural CAD Technician

The Role

Produce Models, Drawings, and process Surveys relating to the Civil and Structural design of water and wastewater assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, outline and detail designs for projects
  • Production of technical drawings in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
  • Process surveys
  • Manage drafting process (conceptual, detailed and for construction)

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Provide input to the pre-construction Health and Safety Plan, including risk assessments, so that it can be prepared and updated at appropriate intervals.
  • Provide input to the Designers Health and Safety File and Quality Assurance File and ensure it is reviewed and updated accordingly.

Project Management

  • Ensure that the technical content of all work is carried out in accordance with the agreed timescales and budgets.

Collaboration

  • Work directly with the supply chain to gather relevant information relating to the technical specification of the project.
  • Work closely with team members from other disciplines to ensure the project requirements are met and drive efficient delivery.
  • Participate in project reviews relating to design, progress, and construction to receive questions and challenges in a constructive manner.

Transformation

  • Proactively research, present and implement innovative new processes and ways of working to optimise output. Examples of this are:
    • Paperless design and construction
    • Using Autodesk BIM 360
    • Developing and using standard designs
    • Exploring the use of other software packages such as Autodesk Dynamo

Key Measures and Targets

  • Maintaining deadlines in line with department managers and consultants
  • Produce high-quality technical drawings

About you

Essential

  • Level 5 qualification or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Strong working experience with Autodesk/AutoCAD/Revit
  • Excellent visual communication skills
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office 360
  • Self-motivated and takes responsibility
  • Able to accept and deliver constructive challenges
  • Background experience of working within a Design Consultancy or Survey Company would be beneficial

Desirable

  • Reinforcement detailing
  • Reinforcement scheduling
  • Concrete specification and design
  • Being able to deal with point cloud surveys
  • Experience in Micro stations or AecoSIM
  • Bentley ProjectWise/Bentley MicroStation's
