Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Structural CAD Designer to support the CAD team in the design of foundations for offshore wind structures. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and specialists, creating innovative designs that contribute directly to the design of offshore wind farms.

As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will produce 2D drawings and 3D models for offshore wind foundation structures using AutoCAD and Autodesk Advance Steel. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise while working on projects from early-stage tenders through to detailed design.

Working closely with engineers and other designers, you will help ensure that designs are accurate, practical and delivered to the highest quality standards. You’ll take ownership of defined work packages and contribute to project success. You will also produce MTOs and other documents required by the engineering department.

Who we are looking for:

For this exciting role where you can develop your skills, work on a range of projects and develop your career, we are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years steel design draughting experience in an engineering company related to mechanical, structural, renewables, naval architecture or oil and gas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Autodesk Advance Steel in accordance with relevant design standards and codes, including client-specific requirements and with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills and be able to develop relationships with engineers. You will be able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and want to be part of an organisation that is striving to achieve the goal of being the world’s leading offshore renewable energy team.

What we offer:

Want to join the best place to work in renewable energy?

At SLPE, we foster a friendly and flexible culture, consistently pushing the boundaries of offshore wind design.

The position allows you to develop your career, taking on responsibility for larger packages of work, learning to check drawings and working towards a Senior Structural Designer role. We foster a culture of continuous learning and personal development.

SLPE delivers world-class projects through cutting-edge design processes, and we take pride in making the journey both challenging and enjoyable. If you are motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn, this role could be the perfect fit for you.

The role offers a competitive salary range from £37,700 to £48,500 per annum, depending on experience. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work to relevant standards, design codes and client requirements.
  • Work closely across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support CAD requirements across teams.
  • Develop relationships with engineers, meet project needs and work towards deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • HNC, HND or degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) or a T Level qualification in a suitable engineering, design subject or suitable work experience.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Advance Steel is desirable; training can be provided.
