We are seeking an experienced Engineer/Senior Engineer to join our growing team of advanced structural analysts in the Bridges Team in Basingstoke. You will be pivotal in driving the quality and timeliness of our services, using your knowledge and skills to deliver quality work on time and within budget.

A little more about your role…

  • Designing bridges for international projects.
  • Bridge strengthening, repair, inspections, and assessments.
  • Using FEA and other structural analysis software.
  • Applying parametric modelling and analysis techniques.
  • Developing automation tools for structural analysis and project delivery.
  • Providing civil and structural engineering support to other teams.
  • Preparing documents, reports, and health and safety risk assessments.

The Bridges team handles large, international projects for highway and rail bridge engineering, serving clients including local authorities, contractors, private developers, and public-sector entities. Current work involves bridge/tunnel design and assessment using FEA and scripting for linear and nonlinear analyses. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel for site visits, inspections, or meetings.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or working towards chartership, with a good degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) in Bridge or Civil Engineering or related fields.
  • Experience in bridge design, maintenance, and assessment from construction sites and design offices.
  • Proficiency with finite element analysis and software such as LUSAS, MIDAS Civil, Robot Structural Analysis Pro, SuperSTRESS, AutoDesk Structural Bridge Design.
  • Scripting skills in Python, VBScript, or JavaScript.
  • Experience in project management of bridge projects.
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design.
  • Experience with steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete bridges.
  • Familiarity with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
  • Proven ability in design, maintenance, supervision of structures, and innovation in bridge and civil structures.
  • Problem-solving mindset and continuous improvement approach.
  • Knowledge of BIM and BRIM systems, processes, and software.
  • Competency with Office 365, digital tools, and modern ways of working.
  • Strong communication, client management, and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to embrace new challenges and contribute to team development.

Additional advantageous skills include experience with other programming languages (C++, C#.Net, VB.Net, Octave, MathCAD), other FEA software (Sofistik, Ansys, Abaqus, CSI Bridge, ETABS), and design tools like Grasshopper, Dynamo, AutoCAD, Rhino, or Revit.
