Job summary

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to support stroke patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders on acute and rehab wards. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing evidence-based assessment, management and CPD opportunities, with a focus on FEES and AAC.

Qualifications

• Qualified SLT with HCPC and RCSLT registration
• Post-graduate dysphagia qualification or equivalent
• Experience with stroke patients in hospital settings
• Ability to manage complex caseload independently
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and CPD

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload of stroke in-patients with communication and swallowing disorders
• Prioritise referrals and supervise junior staff where appropriate
• Provide specialist stroke intervention and evaluate outcomes
• Assess need for instrumental swallow examinations and liaise with MDT
• Document outcomes and produce reports reflecting specialist knowledge
