Responsibilities
At Locala Health & Wellbeing, we believe everyone deserves access to high-quality healthcare and the opportunity to make a positive difference in their community.
We are a staff‑owned, not‑for‑profit Community Interest Company (CIC), providing NHS services to more than 400,000 people across Kirklees and the surrounding areas of West Yorkshire. As a member of Locala, you can have a say in how our organisation develops and help shape the services we deliver to meet the needs of our local communities.
Our vision, “to deliver excellent quality healthcare closer to home,” is at the heart of everything we do.
Based in the heart of West Yorkshire, Locala offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant and diverse community, with easy access to the Pennines, the Dales and the Peak District, as well as the cities of Leeds and Manchester.
An exciting temporary opportunity has arisen for a Rehabilitation Assistant to join our established Community Stroke Service in Huddersfield, covering maternity leave.
Based at Mill Hill Community Health Centre, our service supports adults following a stroke, helping them to regain independence, improve their quality of life and achieve their personal rehabilitation goals.
You will work with people in their own homes, community rehabilitation facilities and care homes, alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses, Assistant Practitioners and Rehabilitation Assistants.
Working as part of this team, you will play an important role in supporting individuals through their rehabilitation journey, helping them build confidence and achieve meaningful outcomes.
We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and flexible individual who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to providing person‑centred care.
Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team is essential. Experience of rehabilitation, supporting people with complex disabilities or neurological conditions, and working as a Rehabilitation Assistant would be advantageous.
However, we recognise that people develop their skills and experience in different ways. A willingness to learn, develop your competencies and build your knowledge of rehabilitation is essential.
You will need good communication skills, the ability to use your initiative and a flexible approach to meeting the changing needs of the service and the people we support.
Most importantly, you will share our commitment to treating people with dignity and respect, recognising their individual needs, preferences and abilities.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience, develop specialist skills and work towards achieving rehabilitation competencies. It could be an ideal next step for someone looking to develop their career in rehabilitation and community healthcare.
At Locala, we value the different experiences, perspectives and skills that people bring to our organisation. We are committed to creating an inclusive working environment where colleagues feel respected, supported and able to contribute.
We welcome applications from people with different backgrounds and experiences who share our values and want to make a difference to the communities we serve.
We also recognise the importance of a positive work‑life balance and promote mobile working, providing colleagues with mobile technology to support them in their roles.
If you are passionate about helping people regain independence, motivated to learn and keen to contribute to a supportive multidisciplinary team, we would love to hear from you.
Join us and help deliver excellent healthcare closer to home.
