Job summary

Dorset County Hospital in Dorset is seeking a consultant in stroke medicine to lead inpatient and outpatient care, support the transformation of stroke services, and contribute to a 24-hour acute stroke service including thrombolysis.

Entry to GMC Specialist Register required with a CCT date within six months of interview. The post is 1.0 WTE across 10 sessions, with flexible working and opportunities in education and research.

Qualifications

• MRCP or overseas equivalent required.
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• \u00a0Entry to the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed date within 6 months of interview), CESR or European Community Rights
• 5 years clinical experience in stroke medicine.
• Ability to cope with demands of a DGH-based consultant.
• Evidence of teaching experience and abilities.

Responsibilities

• In-patient and out-patient care for stroke/TIA patients.
• Support transformation of stroke services.
• Deliver thrombolysis and advise on treatments.
• Participate in audit, research and governance.
• Consultant ward rounds on weekends/public holidays.
• Provide teaching to undergraduates and postgraduates.
• Contribute to clinical quality in overlapping areas.
