Overview

Stress Engineer

Outside IR35

Certain Advantage are hiring for a Stress Engineer based in Derby.

This role is on a 12-month contract basis.

The role
  • Ownership of stress analysis of assigned components.
  • Collaborate with support functions as needed (stress analysis, life management, heat transfer, materials, design).
  • Ensure assigned components meet all technical and functional requirements.
  • Interface with global engineering organizations and other internal organizations (e.g. design) as required to support activity on assigned components.
  • Generate and deliver technical/program presentations to internal and external customers as required (systems tech review, design review and internal analysis review).
  • Write Design Study Summaries (Design Definition Report), Technical Memorandums, Coordination Memos, and Certification Reports as required to document design engineering activity on assigned components.
The individual
  • 3+ years gas turbine experience
  • 2D/3D stress analysis of rotating parts (discs, blisks, shafts, seals, airfoils)
  • Advanced modelling (friction, elastic/plastic)
  • Proficient in ANSYS Mechanical APDL, Hypermesh, UG NX
  • Life analysis: fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture mechanics
