Job description

First principal design is a cornerstone of the Engineering culture at Carbon ThreeSixty. By designing from first principles and utilising cutting edge manufacturing processes we are able to solve challenges that many competitors cannot. At the heart of this philosophy is our analysis capability and experience delivering proven laminate design.

As a Stress Engineer at Carbon ThreeSixty you will support the Engineering and R&D teams in providing in depth analysis of products and laminates. The stress team at CTS use a range of tools including Altair Hyperworks to simulate lay-ups and design optimised solutions.

Specific Responsibilities Include

• Produce structural analysis on composite and lightweight structures (Linear Static Analysis, Modal Analysis, Thermal Analysis and Nonlinear Analysis).
• Produce hand calculations based on industry standards.
• Work closely with the operations team to understand Carbon ThreeSixty’s manufacturing process for each product.
• Work closely with the design and structural analysis team and report results (in the form of stress reports and presentations).
• Contribute to the continuous development of Carbon ThreeSixty’s structural analysis methods and techniques.
  
  

Requirements

• Willing to learn and able to respond quickly to different tasks.
• Able to work as a team and comfortable with a “failing fast” mindset to pursue rapid knowledge capture.
• Able to keep things simple and remove complexity not only on a structural analysis level but also while communicating and presenting information.
• Previous experience is a bonus but not a must.
• Engineering degree in relevant area (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, etc.) and a good understanding of Structural Analysis methods and FEA techniques (meshing, behaviour of materials, contact definitions, loads, boundary conditions, etc.).
• Knowledge of FEA software is desired. Carbon ThreeSixty uses the Altair suite of products (Hyperworks as the preprocessing tool and OptiStruct and Radioss as the implicit and explicit solvers) but experience in using this particular software is by no means a requirement. Experience in Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Comsol, Nastran, etc. will be considered.
