Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a Stress/Finite Element Analyst to execute structural analysis activities on gas turbine components. The role requires strong FEA expertise, materials behaviour knowledge, and life assessment experience, with work on rotating and static aerospace parts.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or related engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in stress analysis; gas turbine exposure advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of 2D/3D stress and structural analysis of gas turbine rotating/static components.

Responsibilities

  • Execute detailed 2D and 3D FEA, modelling contact and elastic-plastic behaviour.
  • Collaborate with global engineering and support functions (life management, heat transfer, materials, design).
  • Interface with design teams to ensure robust, optimized solutions.
  • Support technical reviews and present analyses to internal and external customers.
  • Produce Design Study Summaries / Design Record Books to document activity.
  • Contribute to component life assessment activities (fatigue, fracture mechanics).
  • Provide input to component design and aftermarket services when required.

Job Requirements

We are seeking a Stress / Finite Element Analyst to take execute on structural analysis activities on gas turbine components. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in FEA, materials behaviour, and life assessment, with experience working on rotating and structural parts in aerospace applications. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, technical documentation, and presentation of analysis results to both internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll be working with the a major OEM on projects and deliverables closely aligned with their long term and continued success.

Key Responsibilities

Execute stress analysis of assigned components, ensuring compliance with all technical, fit, form, and functional requirements.

  • Perform detailed 2D and 3D FEA, including modelling and meshing of contact, friction interfaces, and elastic-plastic behaviour
  • Collaborate with global engineering and support functions (life management, heat transfer, materials, design) as needed
  • Interface with design engineering teams to ensure robust and optimised solutions
  • Support technical reviews and deliver presentations to internal and external customers (systems technical reviews, design reviews, analysis reviews)
  • Produce Design Study Summaries / Design Record Books to substantiate and document engineering activity
  • Contribute to component life assessment activities (fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture mechanics).
  • Provide input to component design and aftermarket services and repairs where required.

Work Experience
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in stress analysis, gas turbine exposure advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of 2D/3D stress and structural analysis of gas turbine rotating and/or static components.
  • Proficiency in finite element modelling tools, including:
  • ANSYS Mechanical APDL / Workbench
  • Meshing tools (e.g. Hypermesh, UG NX)
  • CAD tools (e.g. UG NX)
  • Training provided on proprietary analysis applications and techniques
  • Understanding of advanced analysis techniques: non-linear analysis, frictional contact, elastic-plastic behaviour
  • Experience in component life analysis (fatigue, fracture mechanics, damage tolerance)
  • Familiarity with aftermarket services or repair engineering (advantageous)
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
