Job description

Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit!

Join our Simulation and Assessment team and contribute to the delivery of essential projects within the nuclear sector. In this role, you'll apply your expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to perform detailed assessments of nuclear components, ensuring compliance with design codes such as ASME III and RCC-M. You'll be involved in project planning, delivery, and reporting, and will communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including client technical leads. This role offers the opportunity to work both within client teams and from our Assystem offices, providing a variety of project experiences.

Your mission:

  • Desire to learn: Work with our experienced team and develop skills across various projects and clients.
  • Technical aptitude: Plan, undertake, and report simulation and assessment projects using tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, and calculations with MathCAD.
  • Digital first: Familiarity with engineering and data management software such as document control, PLM, MS Office, TEAMS.
  • Collaborative: Work effectively within teams and independently as needed.
  • Delivery focused: Achieve milestones and produce high-quality outputs within time and budget.
  • Commercially aware: Understand project delivery requirements, including compliance, change management, and technical risks.
  • Organised & Communicative: Plan effectively and communicate clearly.
  • Report writing: Produce high-quality, clear, and concise technical reports.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Strong technical fundamentals in calculations, structures, mechanics, fluids, and analysis validation.
  • Experience with computer-based modelling codes like Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, CFD.
  • Understanding of code assessments in safety-related industries (e.g., ASME, RCC-M).
  • Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving license and ability to travel within the UK.

Desirable:

  • Experience in nuclear or fusion industries.
  • 3D CAD modelling experience (Autodesk Inventor, Catia, SolidWorks).
  • Experience with CFD, LS-Dyna, Radioss.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
