Job summary

Assystem UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Simulation and Assessment Engineer to deliver Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of nuclear components in line with ASME III, RCC-M and related codes. You will plan, execute, and report projects, coordinating with internal teams and client technical leads to ensure safety, quality and timely delivery.

Hybrid work arrangements are available; security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent technical fundamentals with an aptitude for calculations across structures, mechanics and fluids.
• Hands-on experience with computer-based modelling codes (Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, CFD).
• Familiarity with safety-related codes (ASME, RCC-M, KTA) or similar sectors.
• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel within the UK.

Responsibilities

• Deliver FEA analyses of nuclear components to design codes (ASME III, RCC-M).
• Plan, execute and report projects with clear stakeholder communication.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to meet milestones and budgets.
• Support major UK and international nuclear clients with work packages.

Qualifications

• Essential:Excellent technical fundamentals - aptitude for calculations, appreciation of structures, mechanics and fluids, an ability to 'sense-check' analysis results.
• Hands‑on experience of computer based modelling codes such as Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, CFD etc.
• Appreciation of code assessments in a safety related industry, for example ASME, RCC-M, KTA or comparable codes from other sectors.
• Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel within the UK.

Desirable /preferred

• Previous experience in similar roles in the nuclear or fusion industry.
• Hands‑on experience of 3D modelling in CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, Catia or SolidWorks.
• Experience of fluid‑modelling such as CFD, or dynamic modelling such as LS‑Dyna or Radioss.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
