Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is hiring an Assistant Streetworks Technician to support inspections and monitoring across the county’s highway network. The role is outdoors in all weather conditions, ensuring streetworks are carried out safely, efficiently and to the correct standards.

We are looking for a confident, proactive starter who wants to grow within Streetworks and the wider Highways service, with training provided on the ground and clear development pathways within our reshaped service.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise your workload to support the delivery of inspections across the county.
• Carry out sample, routine and core inspections in line with legislation and service priorities.
• Identify and report defects or issues of non‑compliance, ensuring safety for all road users.
• Collect, input and analyse data using appropriate systems and produce reports as required.
• Support Streetworks Technicians and the wider team in delivering service improvements.
• Provide clear, professional advice to colleagues, customers and contractors, escalating issues when necessary.
• Note and report any wider highways defects while out on the network.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
