Job summary

Bolsover District Council is seeking a capable operative to carry out arboricultural and grounds maintenance tasks across the district. You will prune trees, cut grass, maintain hedges and undertake street cleansing duties as required, with emphasis on health and safety and efficient work planning.

The role requires a current B driving licence, NPTC qualifications, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of arboricultural and grounds maintenance operations.
  • NPTC qualifications for arboricultural operations and working at heights.
  • Full driving licence Category B (preferably with C1) required.
  • Good verbal communication skills and experience of team working.
  • Experience driving light commercial vehicles, ride-on mowers, hedge cutters and spraying equipment.
  • Ability to sustain high levels of physical output over prolonged periods.
  • Experience working to pre-targeted schedules and tight deadlines.

Job description

Bolsover District Council is a dynamic and ambitious organisation that takes pride in delivering excellent services to our community whilst driving economic growth and environmental sustainability for the district.

Candidates must have knowledge and experience of arboricultural and grounds maintenance operatons, such as tree pruning, planting and felling, cutting grassed areas, sports grounds, planted areas, gardens, churchyards, derelict sites, hedge pruning, and which may on occasion include undertaking Street Cleansing operations such as emptying of dog/litter bins & fly tipping clearance, together with an understanding of their Health and Safety working arrangements.

To be successful you will need:
  • A current full driving Category B License (preferably with category C1) is required.
  • NPTC qualifications in the undertaking of Arboricultural operations using power saws and associated access equipment for working at heights.
  • Good verbal communication skills and experience of team working.
  • Proven practical experience of driving light commercial vehicles, ride-on mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers, spraying equipment,
  • Ability to sustain high levels of physical output over prolonged periods.
  • Experience of working to pre-targeted work schedules and to tight deadlines.
