Job summary

Balfour Beatty is looking for an enthusiastic Street Lighting Operative to join our Cambridgeshire team on a long-term, 25-year PFI contract with Cambridgeshire County Council. You will install, maintain and repair street lighting assets to keep communities safe.

This site-based role requires a full UK driving licence and hands-on experience with lighting equipment, fault-finding and maintenance. You will work largely independently, with some out-of-hours standby and opportunities for

Qualifications

• Experience and competence in street lighting operations.
• Knowledge of fault finding, repair and maintenance of street lighting assets.
• Comfortable using basic IT systems and mobile tablet devices.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain street lighting assets including columns, lanterns, LED lantern replacements, lamps, brackets and beacons.
• Carry out maintenance and repairs to illuminated bollards, illuminated signs, feeder pillars and subway lighting.
• Install and maintain underground SWA cables.
• Undertake ground excavations and reinstatement works associated with installations.
• Complete dynamic risk assessments and work safely in accordance with company procedures.
• Take responsibility for company vehicles, equipment and property.
• Carry out painting of street furniture where required.
• Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota for emergency call-outs.
• Work independently for the majority of tasks, whilst supporting team activities when required.
